Good Morning Cody
So I've been enjoying your channel for awhile now and appreciate your story and content. We've (my family and I) have been contemplating starting a youtub channel for years. We have recently started one partly inspired from yours. In many ways I can relate to what you have shared on your channel and recently purchased your book. Looking forward to learning more. While Homesteading and youtubing seems quite glorious I'm sure there's much more to it- more than meets the eyes.
So that's why I'm here to ask a few questions. Maybe your book answers them but anyways I'd love to hear back from you
So my quick story...
I'm a father of nine awesome children, and husband to one lovely wife. just for laughs i inserted "one" of course it's only one wife and she is amazing. I've been self employed for 16 years and absolutely love what i do to a certain degree. Life is hard right? I'm good at what I do and bad at the same. In the recession in 2008 we lost everything but determined to rebound and I've been it the grinding wheel since. Now 8 years later I'm tired of working so hard that I'm missing my family growing up. I'm trying to simplify what I do but there's going to be a cost in doing that. I'm in debt and need to figure out how to get out of it. It's been manageable and we've been striving to get out for sometime but we've been hit with 2 other calamity back to back in the last two years.
So now my quest is to find other means to pay for our debt while doing less and staying home more. I feel this is possible because I feel it's Gods will straight from his word. Simply by being a better father to provide for my family spiritually and physically.
So far so good . . . Kind of. While i've been home more, helping out at home with daily stuff, chores, homework, church, sports and just quality time. I've made a plan like I do with my work and projects, but instead of a blueprint for construction and building in other peoples homes and landscape I'm doing it with my kids. I take what their needs and desires are and we make a design and plan to build that for each one individually. For example my oldest wants to be a writer and artist, though this might change it is what she desires now. So we, her and I, are making a plan for this. It started with a vision, I contacted several writers in our area, nationally acclaimed, and had made planes to meet them or got them to write her a note of encouragement. A plan of action always starts with vision. We also are working on how to write books of her interest, though she already starting to write her own story, I'm just making a plan to help her and be there with her. It's just something simple but there is so much more we can do other than her plan to be a writer.
So this has been going good, but my work not so good, I'm used to working more hours in a week than most do in a month. By cutting back I'm not doing as much as I need to keep the cash flow coming in and it's hurting there.
Ok so I'll attempt to shorten this now. I'm hoping you can help. Youtubing and other media seems like a niche I can possibly fill and make some decent extra cash. I've been researching this but because your channel and story seems to resonates with me and our family, I wanted to reach out to you and ask what your blueprint was. Maybe I can take it and build my own from it's foundation. So the biggest question is how did you do it? How did you make your income through it? Youtube is different now from when you first started, is the way you did it still possible or what with your experience with all the media facet out there, whats the best plan of action. I might not have all the right questions to ask so with that what would you do and how would you do this? I might not want to do homesteading to what most people think homesteading is but because I enjoy my family and work I think this is my niche. I also understand that it's not an overnight success thing or even a success story to it's means, but everyone needs to start somewhere.
Thank you for your time
